An essential component for being mentally and physically healthy for me is being out on my bike early in the morning. When it is quiet I am able to think and it gives me clarity. Yesterday I was in a bike race at Forest Hill Park this week. One portion of the race course went transversely and then doubled back at a 180 dg turn on a steep hill (for those of you who know it it’s the one everyone slides down when it snows). My son and wife were sitting on the hill on the outside of the apex of the turn cheering for me as I went by. At one point during the race I looked over and saw him with his jacket hood over his head and he was rolling down the hill sideways. He was having a great time and at that moment it occurred to me that I would rather be with him rolling down the hill than in the race. In retrospect thinking on it this morning, I wish I had acted on my impulse and had stopped to roll down the hill with him. I know that it would have meant more to me than the race and it might have something to him as well. I let a moment go that if I had a chance to do it over again I would have. Don’t let your key moments go by! Make good choices and don’t hesitate when you should act. Spend your time wisely it’s one of the most valuable things you have and it’s a key to Thriving!
